Fundraising for Friendship

The Young Professionals Advisory Board–Little Brothers’ junior board–knows supporting a great cause can also mean having a great time. The YPAB is a group of volunteers, ages 24 to 40, who are dedicated to relieving isolation and loneliness for elders across Chicago.

This year, the YPAB hosted its annual signature fundraiser featuring the theme of Junior Prom on Saturday, February 22, at the National Museum of Mexican Art. Little Brothers’ volunteers, donors, supporters, staff, and friends shared an evening of music, dancing, drinks, and small bites, and captured fun moments in a special photo booth. The evening began with time for after-hours tours of the Museum’s beautiful galleries.

Junior Prom attendees made great use of the photo booth!

Since 2010, the YPAB has planned and hosted fundraising and volunteering events, bringing together Little Brothers’ community of supporters. Each event raises funds and awareness for LBFE’s essential programs that keep our seniors connected to friends, community, and each other.

In total, the YPAB has raised over $100,000 to support our elders through its fundraiser and other events such as participation in LBFE’s Giving Tuesday, an annual worldwide day of charitable giving following Thanksgiving.

LBFE supporters enjoyed mixing and mingling.

“The YPAB creates important connections and memorable celebrations. YPAB events are not only enjoyable but also meaningful in raising support for Little Brothers and our elders. We are so grateful for the YPAB’s dedication,” says CEO Simone Mitchell-Peterson.
